Art and dogs * August 25, 2012

On a fleamarket in Baden-Baden, my dad found a cute
dog sculpture.
It is a copy of a hunting dog by
Georges Gardet.
Cute, right? This is what I love to do: SNIFFING!!!!

Georges Gardet (October 11, 1863–1939) was a French sculptor and animalier.

The son of a sculptor, Gardet attended the École des Beaux-Arts in the atelier of Aimé Millet
and Emmanuel Fremiet (another noted animalier). Gardet's wife Madeleine was the sister of painter and decorator Jean Francis Auburtin, who collaborated with Gardet on work for the Parisian Exposition Universelle (1900).

 This is him: Georges Gardet
Some of his works even made it to Canada
Eternal Youth, finial figure for the Manitoba Legislative Building, Winnipeg.
